Pests such as rats, spiders, ants, flies, mosquitoes, fleas, and roaches can appear at any time within your property. This can cause a lot of damage. Most of the time, they not only cause dirt and unpleasant odors in the house but can also be a source of disease. Spiders spin their webs everywhere and make our house dirty. Mosquitoes bite us and can cause malaria, especially the females. Some rats ravage and destroy our belongings and cause many diseases such as the plague. Worse still, they keep multiplying over time. That’s why you need to find solutions to get rid of them as soon as possible. Adopt preventive and treatment methods to control these pests.

Prevention Methods

First of all, a healthy lifestyle must be maintained to prevent pests’ appearance. Thus, the cleanliness of your property is essential. Be sure to clean your home every day, removing dust and cobwebs, and disposing of sewage and garbage away from the house. Don’t store rotten food or leave food crumbs lying around. Air out your home and declutter your attic and basement.

Methods To Control Household Pests

There are several ways to eliminate pests. First, there are special products such as pesticides. These mainly come in 3 types including insecticide, herbicide, and fungicide. Among these substances, insecticide is the one that is suitable for household pests. If you use it, be careful not to let your pets and children ingest it.

Natural products are also effective in scaring away household pests. These include white vinegar, garlic, lemongrass, and basil. Because of their repellent properties, they are among the best solutions to fight against these pests.

For white vinegar, pour it into a glass and put it on the windows. For garlic, the cloves should be mixed with water to serve as a spray throughout the house. Lemongrass is also effective in keeping insects away. The smell of citronella displeases them and makes them flee. To use it, follow the same method as for white vinegar. As for basil, plant it in a flowerpot, preferably near the window or door or outside.

Other techniques are also effective for pest control, the best known of which are traps (to catch live insects) and protective devices. The common system for capturing pests is to attract them with food. There is the cage and the creel for rat traps.

You can use sticky fly catchers or an electric fly killer for flies. You can also use a mosquito net to control mosquitoes and filter paper to keep food safe from insects.
