Coffee Stains on Cotton

If coffee is spilled on a cotton garment, it should be addressed as soon as possible. If the coffee stain is new, place the cotton in a container and pour boiling water and a few drops of hydrogen peroxide.

On the other hand, if the stain has been there for a long time, you can try dabbing the stain with glycerin, then a mixture of ammonia and alcohol.

Coffee Stains on Jeans

There are two solutions for removing coffee stains from jeans.

Mix a teaspoon of salt in soda water, apply it directly to the coffee stain, and leave it overnight. The next day, wash the jeans normally.

The second solution is egg yolk mixed with hot water and a few drops of alcohol. Apply this solution to the coffee stain, leave it on for 15-20 minutes, and then wash the jeans.

Coffee Stains on Wool

The rule of thumb for coffee stains on woolen garments is not to rub. Soak the garment overnight in a bowl of hot water and 2 cups of apple cider vinegar. The next day the stain will be gone.

Coffee Stains on Linen and Silk

To remove stains from these fabrics, first wet them with cold water, then hot water and soap.

Coffee Stains on Walls

Coffee stains on walls can be removed by applying lemon and letting it sit for an hour. Then wash the walls with Marseille soap, followed by lukewarm water, and again rinse with only the latter.

You can also spray the stain with household detergent and follow the instructions. Some detergents take longer to work than others. If using a non-spray neutral detergent, blend it with a soft bristle brush and warm water to create a lather.

Scrub the dirt with a soft bristle-tipped brush. For best results, scrub gently from side to side and wash in overlapping motions.

Coffee Stains on Sofas

For coffee stains on sofas, speed is of the essence! First, blend the coffee as best you can, then act according to the sofa’s fabric.

Cotton sofas: If the stain is new, use a soda water solution and glycerin. Otherwise, use Marseille soap.

For leather and eco-leather sofas: choose milk or Marseille soap and use it if the stain is new. Otherwise, first, soften the stain with warm water.

Velvet sofa: In this case, simply use a cleaning solution and warm water.

Blot the Stain

The stain is most likely to be completely removed if you act quickly. Using a white cloth, wipe away the coffee from the outside of the stain toward the center of the stain so that the it does not spread. Be careful not to rub, as the liquid may get into the carpet fibers. When most of the stain has been removed, run cold water over it and dab again to dilute it.

To remove coffee stains from rugs and carpets, you can also try several splashes of foaming water or lukewarm water. If that is not sufficient, try a solution of equal parts alcohol and vinegar.
