Tips & Tricks To Clean Your Carpet

Any carpet or rug will start to look dull over time. Gray walkways appear, and everyone makes a stain once in a while. So, how can you clean your carpet?

With a carpet cleaner, you can clean your carpet, a device that sprays water and detergent deep into the fibers and sucks them up. This method removes a variety of stains and thoroughly cleans the entire carpet.

Below you will find an optimized step-by-step plan and many valuable tips on cleaning your carpet. You will be able to make your carpet look like new again without damaging it!

Time Required: 45 minutes

This step-by-step plan is suitable for all types of carpets, floor coverings and rugs. The indicated time may vary depending on size and condition.

1) Vacuum Thoroughly

Always start by vacuuming to remove surface dirt, such as sand, dust, and hair.

2) Prepare the Appliances

Fill the water tank with lukewarm water and carpet cleaner. The water temperature should not exceed 50 degrees Celsius; lukewarm water is safe.

3) Cleaning the Carpet

Clean all fibers from all sides, working in strips, from top to bottom and then from left to right. Do this in slow-motion to allow the spray extraction system to function properly.

4) Reusing the Suction Function

Vacuum the surface again without spraying any water or detergent. This will remove as much moisture as possible from the carpet and allow it to dry faster and cleaner.

5) Removing Stubborn Stains

If the stain on the carpet is not removed in one cleaning session (steps 3 and 4), the machine can treat it again.

6) Drain the Dirty Water and Let the Carpet Dry

Empty the machine’s waste bin into the toilet. Then wait until the carpet or rug is completely dry before walking on it or putting furniture back in its place.

Here’s a few more tips and a few tricks you can use for carpet cleaning:

Soapy water

This simple solution will do the trick for carpets that need to be refreshed. Scrub vigorously with a sponge soaked in soapy water (black soap or Marseille soap). Then rinse the rug with water and vinegar and allow it to dry.

Sodium Carbonate

Do you think cleaning carpets is a difficult task? Using lukewarm water with dissolved sodium carbonate (one sachet of sodium carbonate per liter of water), you can clean your carpet in no time. Use a sponge and scrub a little harder for visible stains. Once you are satisfied with the result, clean the carpet with a damp cloth.

Ammonia and Water

Ammonia can remove even the most stubborn stains. Simply scrub vigorously with a sponge dipped in water containing a few drops of ammonia. Leave it on, rinse with warm water, and wipe with a dry cloth. Note that ammonia should be used with caution; a few drops will do the trick.

 Shaving Cream

You can use shaving cream to clean your carpet. This may sound a little strange, but it works. Using the palm of your hand, apply a thick layer of shaving cream to the entire carpet and allow it to penetrate. Then, leave it for at least an hour before scrubbing off the residue with a clean sponge, or wait overnight and vacuum it.

Vinegar

This cheap technique, which has been around since grandma’s time, is beneficial for grease stains. Take 500 ml of white vinegar, 200 ml of lukewarm water, and 2 tablespoons of liquid dishwashing detergent in a bowl and mix well. Apply this mixture to a sponge and clean the carpet. After use, wipe with a damp cloth.
