Essential Tips To Organize Your Laundry

The washing machine is located in the utility room or bathroom in many homes. Still, if you are lucky enough to have a separate laundry space, you naturally want to make it as practical as possible. With these tips, you can turn your laundry room into a beautiful and functional space.

1) Place Appliances in Elevated Locations

If you have space in your laundry room for a washer and dryer next to each other, it is best to have them at some height instead of on the floor. This way, you won’t have to bend your knees to fill them.

Ideally, the cabinet should be custom-made so the height can be adjusted as desired. Keep in mind that heat dissipation is good, especially in tumbler dryers.

Tip: Did you know that you can move the door left or right with most machines? You can quickly turn the door of either device to put laundry directly from the washer to the dryer if they are next to each other.

2) Set Up a Place to Fold Laundry

We all get tired of folding laundry and lining up socks at some point. Having a place to put them at hand makes life so much easier. Are your devices next to each other on the floor? Then create the ideal workspace with a nice shelf to mount right above it.

Tip: Do you like to watch your favorite series while folding in the living room? Then how about a mobile laundry station (mobile washing machine)? All you need is an old bookshelf, a little time, and skill. Remove the boards and replace both sides with wooden slats. Now you can hang a couple of laundry baskets with the handles resting on the boards. Place a few wheels underneath, and you are done. The top of the shelf is perfect for folding laundry. You can quickly store your preparations in one of the baskets.

3) Make Room for a Clothesline

Don’t forget to make room for a clothesline in the laundry room. Is the weather nice? Then you might want to hang your clean laundry outdoors, but you want to avoid a clothesline in your living room, even in winter. Do you have limited space in your laundry room? Then choose a telescopic system that can be hung on the wall, such as over a worktop.

4) Pre-sort Your Laundry

Separate baskets or large drawers allow you to get your laundry right where you need it. When the baskets and drawers are full, it’s time to do laundry. Since the sorting process is already done, you can save a lot of time.

5) Choose Matching Baskets

Laundry requires a lot of things. First, detergent, of course, but also fabric softener, stain-specific soap, laundry bags, and a clothesline. You can place an open shelf above the workstation and put a nice wooden box or basket. That way, you can sort everything within easy reach.

Tip: Open shelves can quickly look cluttered. Choose matching baskets or boxes to place next to each other to create a sense of unity and calm.

6) Laundry Room Organization and Furniture

It’s not hard to imagine that the laundry room is not your favorite place in the house. Organizing and furnishing your laundry room can quickly become a lot of fun. Consider a lovely lamp, a nice or funny wall sticker, a nice glass bottle to hold detergent, a label for the laundry basket, etc. Pinterest pages are an ideal source of inspiration.
